Gary Maddux, a Keller resident and Chief Helicopter Pilot for Hill Air, will be speaking on counseling and suicide prevention. He is a retired Lt. Colonel in the US Marine Corps and served as the chief pilot for Marine One, the Presidential Helicopter, from 2004 to 2008. With a Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M and a graduate of the Marine Corps Command College, Gary recently obtained his Master's Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University in 2022.
Apart from his pilot duties, Gary is also a Licensed Professional Counselor at Cardinal Counseling and Wellness Group in North Richland Hills. He specializes in adult, individual counseling, trauma, cognitive processing therapy, grief, suicide loss support, and suicide prevention/postvention community education. His personal journey in counseling began after experiencing the devastating loss of his daughter, Kaylee, to suicide in 2019. This tragic event prompted him to become actively involved in counseling and suicide prevention, aiming to support others in similar situations.
